PRODUCTION COMPANY “PRIME STORY PICTURES” STARTED SHOOTING A DOCUMEN-TARY ABOUT NARROW-GAUGE RAILWAYS IN UKRAINE AND SWITZERLAND ON OC-TOBER 26TH.
The main character of the film is Oleh Hudzeliak. He is student-railroader, a young ambitious activist of preservation of narrow-gauge railways of Ukraine. Oleh often travels by narrow-gauge railways and decides to devote his time to preservation of this valuable asset of the cultural and industrial heritage. He will be traveling by Borzhavska, Vygodska, Polisska and Gaivoronska narrow-gauge railways. During the trip Oleh will be talking to train drivers, pointsmen, workers of stations and depots. They will share fascinating stories about their devoted and persistent work on the narrow-gauge railways. Also, Oleh will stop by Uzhhorod children’s narrow-gauge railway, where the love to railroad is actually being implanted for the future generations.
While keeping in touch with the international community of railway enthusiasts Oleh meets with the other characters of the documentary – Christophe Bachmann and his wife, Caroline Bachmann. Christophe is a Swiss railroader-restorer, railway activist, who has restored a unique 19th century train at his own expense.
Oleh invites Christophe to visit Vygodksa narrow-gauge railway and see miraculous beauty of the Carpathian mountains while traveling the railroad. Christophe, on the other hand, invites Oleh to the French part of Switzerland in order to share the experience of successful preservation and constant development of the mountain narrow-gauge railroad.
